Godalming Town Council is responsible for the installation of Christmas lights in Godalming town centre.
Over the last few years, new lights have been purchased with many Godalming businesses contributing to the cost of buying the lights although it is the Town Council that meets the annual costs of putting them up and taking them down again.
This year the Godalming Christmas Lights Switch-on will be on Friday, 27 November 2009 at 7.30 pm. Entertainments will commence at 5.45 pm. Switch-on by former Formula One champion, Damon Hill, at 7.30 pm. Damon will be joining Hilary O'Neil and Lloyd Hollett, who are starring in this year's Cinderella pantomime at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford and Eagle Radio's Peter Gordon, who will be the Master of Ceremonies for the switch-on evening.
Come and see Father Christmas in his sleigh and the procession from the Town Council offices up to Godalming High Street from approximately 7.15 pm.
The High Street will be closed to vehicles between 5.45 pm and 8.30 pm.
