73-08 MINUTES

The Minutes of the Meeting held on 5 June 2008 were signed by the Chairman as a correct record.

74-08 PETITIONS/STATEMENTS/QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

No petitions/statements/questions had been received from members of the public in accordance with Standing Order No 79.

75-08 DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS

Councillor PJ Martin declared a personal and prejudicial interest, as the Executive Member of Surrey County Council with responsibility for Schools, Children and Services, in Agenda Item 5, Schedule No 18 ( WA/2008/1079) and left the Chamber when that agenda item was debated.

Councillor PJ Martin declared a further personal interest, as an Executive Member of Surrey County Council, in Agenda Item 9 and stayed in the Chamber when that agenda item was debated.

Councillor RA Gordon-Smith declared a personal interest, because the property is in the same road as his house, in Agenda Item 5, Schedule No 13 ( WA/2008/1032) and stayed in the Chamber when that agenda item was debated.

Councillor JR Thomson declared a personal and prejudicial interest, on the grounds that the applicant is a personal friend, in Agenda Item 5, Schedule No 1 ( WA/2008/0000) and left the Chamber when that agenda item was debated.

The comments and observations from the following Waverley Borough Councillors were preliminary ones prior to consideration at Borough Council level and were based on the evidence and representations to the Town Council.

76-08 PLANNING APPLICATIONS - CONSULTATION

The Committee considered the applications listed on the attached schedule and commented on them as shown in the third column.

77-08 PLANNING APPEALS

Members noted the following:

New Appeals Lodged

WA/2007/2660 & WA/2007/2661 Erection of 5 new dwellings and applications for Conservation Area Consent for the demolition of a building at Wiggins Yard, Bridge Street, Godalming.

Appeal Decisions

WA/2007/2218 Proposed erection of a detached dwelling on land at 3 May Close, Godalming.         ALLOWED

78-08 WAVERLEY BOROUGH COUNCIL - PLANNING DECISIONS

Members noted the contents of a list of Godalming applications considered by Waverley Borough Council (either by delegated authority or by Development Management Committees) where decisions were significantly different to the observations submitted by the Town Council (copy attached to record minutes).

79-08 ITEMS FOR THE INFORMATION OF MEMBERS

Members noted the items, which were tabled for their information.

80-08 REVIEW OF SUB-REGIONAL ALLOCATION OF PRIMARY LAND-WON AGGREGATES IN THE SOUTH EAST

t the last meeting of this Committee Members were asked to consider the consultation document on the above. Members agreed to submit their comments to the Town Clerk so that a response to the consultation could be prepared for agreement.

That draft response to consultation (copy attached to record minutes) was agreed by Members.

81-08 DATE OF NEXT MEETING

The next meeting of the Planning & Environment Committee is scheduled to be held on Thursday, 17 July 2008 at 6.30 pm in the Council Chamber.

82-08 ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Town Clerk announced that visitors from Godalming's German twin town Mayen and their hosts were expected in the Council Chamber at 8pm and that drinks would be served in the Mayor's Parlour at the conclusion of the Policy & Management Committee meeting.

Councillor RA Gordon-Smith gave Members details of a charity cricket match to be held at Charterhouse School starting at 10.15am on Friday 25 July 2008.
