119-08 MINUTES

The Minutes of the meeting of the Council held on 8 May 2008 were signed by the Mayor as a correct record.

120-08 PETITIONS/STATEMENTS/QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

No petitions/statements/questions had been received from members of the public in accordance with Standing Order No 79.

121-08 DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS

Members declared no Personal or Prejudicial Interest in relation to any item on the agenda for this meeting, which is required to be disclosed by Local Authorities (Model Code of Conduct) Order 2007 No.1159.

123-08 COMMITTEE REPORTS

The reports of the following Committees setting out decisions taken pursuant to delegated powers were RECEIVED

Full Council agreed the recommendation of the Planning & Environment Committee that the committee meeting planned for Thursday, 7 August 2008 should be cancelled.

 Policy & Management Committee

Full Council agreed the recommendation of the Policy & Management Committee that the committee meeting planned for Thursday, 7 August 2008 should be cancelled.

125-08 GODALMING JOINT BURIAL COMMITTEE - REPORT

The report of the meeting of the Joint Burial Committee held on 12 June 2008 was noted.

126-08 SIGNING OF PAPERS

 The following resolution was passed nem con.

THAT THE TOWN CLERK BE AUTHORISED TO SIGN OR WHERE APPROPRIATE, TO HAVE SEALED ON BEHALF OF THE TOWN COUNCIL ANY ORDERS, DEEDS OR DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO GIVE EFFECT TO ANY OF THE MATTERS CONTAINED IN THE REPORTS RECEIVED AT THIS MEETING OR IN ANY RESOLUTION PASSED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL.

 On this occasion Full Council AGREED that should a document require sealing while the Town Clerk is on holiday this summer (8-18 August 2008) the Facilities & Cemeteries Manager acting in his capacity as Deputy Town Clerk be authorised to sign or where appropriate, to have sealed on behalf of the Town Council any orders, deeds or documents necessary to give effect to any of the matters contained in the reports received at this meeting or in any resolution passed by the Town Council.
 

127-08 THE GODALMING FAIRTRADE TOWN CAMPAIGN

Members received a statement from the Godalming Fairtrade Town Campaign about progress towards becoming a Fairtrade Town (copy of statement attached).

128-08 WORK OF THE GODALMING JOINT BURIAL COMMITTEE

Members received a presentation from Mr Alan Corcoran, Facilities & Cemeteries Manager, about the work of the Godalming Joint Burial Committee and congratulated the Committee and Mr Corcoran on the significant work that the Committee has undertaken in the last year.

129-08 DATE OF NEXT MEETING

The next meeting of the Full Council is scheduled to be held on Thursday, 23 October 2008 at 6.30 pm in the Council Chamber.

130-08 ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Town Mayor announced the following dates for his charity fund-raising activities:


 Members were reminded that the Mayor's charities for the year are the Trinity Trust Team and Skillway.

The Mayor invited all present to join him in the Mayor's Parlour for a drinks reception being held for people with a significant connection to the Godalming Joint Burial Committee.
