The Minutes of the meeting held on 4 December 2008, having been previously circulated, were signed by the Chairman as a true record.
82-09 PETITIONS/STATEMENTS/QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
No petitions/statements/questions had been received from members of the public in accordance with Standing Order No 80.
83-09 DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL AND PREJUDICIAL INTERESTS
Members declared no Personal or Prejudicial Interest in relation to any item on the agenda for this meeting, which is required to be disclosed by Local Authorities (Model Code of Conduct) Order 2007 No.1159.
84-09 APPOINTMENT OF A MAYOR’S CADET
Members considered the wish of the current Town Mayor, Councillor JM Poulter, to appoint a Mayor’s Cadet for the civic year 2009/10.
Members agreed that they would recommend such an appointment to Full Council for the civic year 2009/10. The appointment for the current civic year would be considered as a pilot with the Committee to consider a report on whether such an appointment might be perpetuated in subsequent mayoral years at its next meeting.
Members acknowledged that a great deal of detail was missing from the proposal and that while most of that detail would be considered at the Committee’s next meeting some key issues needed to be resolved now.
Members agreed that any costs arising from the proposal in the current year should be met from the Mayoral Allowance. That the young person concerned should be fourteen years old or older and a resident of the area covered by Godalming Civil Parish. Further Members instructed that the Town Clerk should complete a risk assessment to be approved before any appointment took place.
85-09 DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Mayoralty Committee was scheduled to be held on Thursday, 3 December 2009 at 6.30 pm in the Pepperpot.
